How do I book an appointment?
You may contact me by sending a note to contactme@taraoconnell.com. Please provide your name and email address as well as a telephone number(s) where you can be reached, and the best time to return your call. The first time we speak on the telephone I will ask you a brief set of questions so that a determination can be made regarding next steps for consultation or for referral. |

Fees:
Unfortunately, O.H.I.P. does not pay for psychotherapists' private services. Fees have been set according to the guidelines of the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA). Fees vary depending on the duration of the session. Payment for services is due each session and a receipt will be provided. Cash or cheque are accepted methods of payment. |

Insurance Coverage:
The cost of counselling may be reimbursed if your employer has provided you with an
Extended Medical Benefits plan that insures for the services of a psychotherapist.
As the coverage for each carrier is different, please check your plan or consult with your insurer's representative to see what coverage is available for psychological services, the claim procedure, details required on receipts, and whether or not you will require a letter of referral from your physician.
- O.H.I.P. does not cover fees for psychotherapy

Confidentiality:
The privacy of my client’s personal information is of paramount importance to me. Information provided in the course of therapy will be maintained in the strictest of confidence and will never be shared with anyone without your written consent in advance, and within the bounds of the law and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
It’s a small world out there and there is always a chance that we may run into each other in the course of daily life outside therapy. My policy is that I will not approach or speak to you unless you choose to initiate contact with me. This preserves your right to confidentiality and keeps you from being in the position of having to identify me as you psychotherapist if you are with someone else. |

In Case of Emergency:
I do not have an on-call or emergency service, so in the case of an emergency please go directly to the Emergency Room of the nearest hospital. |

Medication:
Research demonstrates that for many disorders, psychotherapy can be equally as, or more effective than medication as a treatment option. In certain cases, the combination of medication and therapy may increase the likelihood of a positive outcome.
As a Psychotherapist, I do not prescribe medication, however with your agreement and written consent, I would be more than willing to provide your family physician with relevant information which may assist with decisions regarding your prescription medication. |
